Always Was, Always Will Be

Aunty Fay Muir & Sue Lawson

Description

"Freedom of speech... gives Australian citizens the right to protest if they feel a law, event or behaviour is unjust or unfair."

'Always Was, Always Will Be' celebrates the strength, wisdom and bravery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples defending their lands and rights through history. It takes a close look at some of the iconic First Nations protest movements since 1788 and the great change they achieved as a result.

Here are some of the events included in the book:
Day of Mourning
The Australian Freedom Rides
The 1967b Referendum
Wave Hill Walk Off
The Tent Embassy
Mabo V Queensland
The Long Walk
Voice Referendum

Understanding our past helps us see how far we have come. It also shows us how we must continue to work towards healing and understanding.
